DAC Planning

Championing community-led planning across the UK

DAC Planning provide town planning support to local authorities and communities. They needed to modernise their brand to include cohesive visuals across their website, social media, and documents.

The brief

DAC were ready to grow their reputation across the UK and bring in more big projects. But their visual brand was tired, disconnected, and struggling to keep pace with competitors. Constellation refreshed and expanded their existing brand, opting for a minimalistic style to embody the precision and clarity of DAC’s services.

Brand refresh

Our team held a planning session with DAC to understand their growth plans, target markets, mission, and values. We then conducted an audit of DAC’s existing marketing to identify priority areas and how best to address them. The audit primarily focused on visual identity and messaging, included competitor comparisons, areas of improvement, and recommendations.

Content and design

Messaging and values were a core aspect of DAC’s growth ambitions. In particular, they wanted to differentiate themselves through their plan-led, community-first approach. We created a communications toolkit to help them to update and unify their messaging across their website, and to support future campaigns.

It included a mission statement, guiding values, and detailed style and tone of voice guidelines. Consistency and quality were also guiding principles for DAC’s visual content. We liaised with photographers to create a more cohesive library of DAC’s team images and curated a library of licensed photos and images to use on the website and across marketing materials. We also designed series of social media templates for LinkedIn and Instagram using the new brand elements.

Web design

With the new branding and messaging in place, it was time to update the website. We work from their existing platform to find solutions to the challenges posed by the site. We were able to introduce the new brand visuals, simplify and improve page layouts, and create a more streamlined user journey to encourage greater interaction with the website. Finally, we used the energy of the new branding to redesign a town illustration from the website, as well as some new icons.

The results

With a strong brand, refreshed website, and clear messaging, DAC are now well equipped to take on their growth plans. And they’re already celebrating some incredible successes!

As well playing an instrumental role in the adoption of pioneering brownfield-first regeneration plan, they have also been nominated for an RTPI Planning Excellence award.
