Essex Chambers of Commerce

A fresh look for Essex’s leading business membership organisation

The Essex Chambers of Commerce are a regional intuition with a global network. However their branding and digital presence hadn’t been updated in some time. We revamped their logo, built a new website, and created a new library of assets.

The brief

The Essex Chambers of Commerce is the county’s largest and most influential business membership organisation. It works with organisations of all shapes and sizes, providing practical training and support, international trade advice and influencing policy at a local, regional, and national level.

The organisation’s visual branding and website hadn’t been updated for some time, and their marketing output looked outdated. Constellation refreshed their branding and built a new website to connect with existing and prospective members. We also designed new print and digital marketing materials to ensure the brand and messaging was consistent across all marketing activities.

We delivered

  • Branding and design
  • Content and SEO
  • Web design and  development
  • Design and print

During our discovery session, it became clear that maintaining reputation and brand recognition was essential. We therefore needed to create something in keeping with and authentic to the existing brand whilst also bringing a fresh, modern take.

Brand refresh

We presented a range of logo concepts. Some were a creative reimagining of the original logo, while others offered a new interpretation of an Essex-based identity.

Through  feedback and collaboration, we finalised a design inspired by the shape of the original logo with sharper lines, an updated font, and revamped colour palette. We also included a new tagline to better reflect the Chambers’ unique proposition: a local business support with national and international backing.

By introducing new patterns and motifs, we were able to bring variety, depth, and texture to their visual branding. Each element and instructions for its usage were set out in a comprehensive brand guideline.

With the brand framework in place, we got to work redesigning the Chambers’ full library of digital and print assets. This included membership packs, social media graphics and templates, and pull up banners.

Content and SEO

The Essex Chambers website incorporates multiple service areas, event listings and publications, and a membership portal. In addition to outdated page layouts and features, the original site was very text-heavy andlacked a coherent structure. Our first priority was to strip away outdated content and consolidate the pages. We conducted an SEO audit to identify keywords and top performing landing pages. This allowed us to create a new, user-friendly sitemap that was relevant and accessible to users. Using keyword data from the SEO audit, we redrafted and streamlined the content for each page and ensured they were all fully search optimised.

Web design and build

As mentioned, the original site was extremely text-heavy and cluttered. We therefore developed the new site to be dynamic, engaging, and easy to navigate. Our clean page designs used simple colour blocking to break up each section and build brand recognition. We introduced images throughout the site to draw users’ attention and drive traffic to landing pages. Clear and relevant calls to action were implemented across the site, including new member signups, contact forms, and membership logins.

The results

The new brand and website are now live and already receiving positive feedback from members. We supported the marketing and communications team with the launch, drafting a press release and social media content, as well as creating multimedia assets to be shared across their social platforms.

Constellation has an ongoing relationship with the Chambers team, and we will continue to provide them with marketing consultancy and support.

“This has been a fun and rewarding project. By breathing new life into our branding and website, we now have an aesthetic which reflects the modern and engaging Chambers we are. Thank you Constellation for bringing this project to fruition.”
